One of the biggest pieces of advice I’d give to brides planning a wedding in Oxford: choose a local photographer, but not a photographer who solely specializes in Oxford weddings. This way you can ensure your photographer is familiar with the area without limiting yourself to one singular vision they utilize over and over. I approach each wedding as its own unique work of art, adapting my approach to each couple's unique vision.

TIP: Work with a photographer familiar with Oxford, MS and the Ole Miss campus who can provide recommendations on the best areas for engagement photos or wedding photos. The gorgeous campus provides plenty of great backdrops, but it’s also important to keep in mind the abundant shade can interfere with lighting. If you’re planning an Oxford wedding, be sure to choose a photographer who can capture the town or campus’s charm without sacrificing quality light.

One of the benefits of working with a photographer who is experienced with the town but also is fortunate enough to film elsewhere is that I’m not tempted to capture the same shots in the same locations for each wedding. I’ve filmed in locations from California to Connecticut, and one of the benefits of working with a photographer like me who does often film in different locations is that by nature I’m required to continually work to ensure I’m capturing moments from the best angles. This keeps me from becoming lazy or apathetic and requires me to approach each wedding as a project with research to ensure I can tailor each couple’s personality to their photographs.
