Working with a photographer who is skilled in a particular photography style is ideal if you want to make the most of your investment. For many brides, the single most important factor in who you choose in a wedding photographer is aesthetic, and this is certainly an important factor.
Knowing whether your photographer’s signature style lends itself to the light, bright, and airy or a romantic vintage feel should be an important consideration considering this will have an impact on the overall aesthetic of your photos from your special day.
Luckily for my clients, I have experience with a variety of styles, so whether you’re looking for modern and fun; light and bright, or vintage and moody, I can accommodate your preferences and wedding aesthetic.

TIP: If you’re unsure what aesthetic you prefer, consider your venue and event timing.
If you’re having trouble deciding whether you prefer a light and bright aesthetic or a vintage feel, consider the layout, decor, and aesthetic of your venue as well as the time of day or not your event will be taking place. A 12:00 p.m. outdoor wedding in a well-lit venue like the Brooks Museum of Memphis would likely lend itself to bright and airy photography while a 6:00 p.m. moody romantic New Orleans wedding in a historic mansion or an intimate engagement photography session in a home may lend itself to a different type of photography.
Here’s the thing - all wedding photographers and videographers had to start somewhere, and I myself was once a beginner, but the reality is that you get what you pay for, and while you may find a “deal” booking an inexperienced photographer, that inexperience will creep into your investment in ways you wouldn’t necessarily expect.
TIP: Work with a photographer familiar with Memphis, Nashville, and other popular Tennessee wedding destinations who can recommend locations for engagement sessions.
Working with an experienced photographer who is familiar with the most popular and highly sought after wedding and event venues in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and other major wedding destinations in Tennessee can be tremendously helpful.
In addition to photography and editing skills that can impact the hiding of imperfections, the manipulation of lighting, and other techniques an experienced photographer knows how to utilize, an experienced wedding photographer also knows where the best venues for engagement photography can be found. If you want your engagement photos to feel as unique as you are as a couple, then don’t underestimate the power of a great photographer experienced with the area they’re shooting in.
I recently had the pleasure of shooting an engagement session in Nashville for Shelbi & Sean, and while a photographer less familiar with great spots for a Nashville engagement photo session or a less experienced photographer may have been intimidated by shooting on the steps of the War Memorial and in the vicinity of the War Memorial Plaza, I was happy to accommodate this request knowing we could make their Nashville engagement session one of my favorite yet.
